About El Dorado - El Dorado is a city located in Union County, Arkansas, USA. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 21,530. The city is the county seat of Union County, and home to the headquarters of Murphy Oil Corporation and Deltic Timber Corporation. El Dorado is also the site of a mayhaw festival hosted by the South Arkansas Historical Foundation each May.

The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 2.99.

In the city the population is spread out with 26.3% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 18.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 85.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 78.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $27,045, and the median income for a family is $34,753. Males have a median income of $30,876 versus $19,211 for females.
