in Los Angeles County, California, USA. As of the 2000
census, the city had a total population of 118,718.
As of 2005, the California Finance Dept. estimates the
population at 133,703. Lancaster is the ninth-largest
city in Los Angeles County and the third-fastest growing.
Lancaster is located in the Palmdale / Lancaster Urbanized
Area, bordering Palmdale on the North. Lancaster is
the second largest desert city in California after Palmdale.

children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.4%
are married couples living together, 17.0% have a female
householder with no husband present, and 27.6% are non-families.

6.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age
or older. The average household size is 2.92 and the
average family size is 3.41.
In the city the population is spread out with 32.3%
under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from
25 to 44, 18.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who are 65 years
of age or older. The median age is 31 years. For every
