the East Bay, part of the San Francisco Bay Area, in
Contra Costa County, California. As of the 2000 census,
the CDP had a total population of 4,936. Kensington
is an unincorporated area of Contra Costa County. As
such, Kensington does not have a mayor, city council,
or other municipal-level officials. It does, however,
have its own police and fire departments.
