the city had a total population of 18,558. It is the county seat of McDonough
County. Macomb is located in western Illinois, southwest of Galesburg. It was
founded in 1831. Macomb is the home of Western Illinois University.

them, 34.9% are married couples living together, 7.4% have a female householder with no
husband present, and 55.1% are non-families. 38.4% of all households are made up of individuals
and 12.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size
is 2.10 and the average family size is 2.77.
In the city the population is spread out with 12.6% under the age of 18, 42.9% from 18 to 24,
18.2% from 25 to 44, 14.0% from 45 to 64, and 12.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median
age is 23 years. For every 100 females there are 94.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over,
there are 93.8 males.
