According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 29.8 km˛ (11.5 mi˛). 23.8 km˛ (9.2 mi˛) of it is land and 6.0 km˛ (2.3 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 20.16% water.

There are 2,181 households out of which 32.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.7% are married couples living together, 12.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.6% are non-families. 31.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 3.11.

In the city the population is spread out with 28.4% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 23.5% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 19.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 85.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 80.2 males.

Education Children in Brady attend Brady ISD schools. There are approximately 1,300 students attending Brady ISD. Northward Elementary constist of grades Pre-k and Kindergarten and the principal is Jenny Roberts. Brady Elementary consist grades 1-5 and the principal is Kelley Hirt. Brady Middle School constist of grades 6-8 with Eric Bierman as principal. Brady High School consist of grades 9-12 with Liesa Land as principal. Other central office staff include Steve McCarn as Superintenden and KK Brannies as Assistant Superintendent. The coordinator for the ESL program is Mary Ann Gutierrez.
