- Pearland is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown Metropolitan Area. Pearland is partially located in Brazoria County and partially in Harris County. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, the city had a total population of 37,640. As of January 2005 the population is estimated to be 57,745.
Eighty-three percent of Pearland is residential, which is the one big contributing factor to the high population.
The proper pronunciation for the city is "pear-land" (it was named for native pear trees).

Pearland is located at 29°33'16" North, 95°17'45" West (29.554349, -95.295959)1.

The racial makeup of the city is 82.62% White, 5.33% African American, 0.42% Native American, 3.65% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 6.12% from other races, and 1.82% from two or more races. 16.22% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 13,192 households out of which 43.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.6% are married couples living together, 9.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.2% are non-families. 15.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.84 and the average family size is 3.17.
In the city the population is spread out with 28.8% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 34.2% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 96.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.8 males.

Most of Pearland is a part of Pearland Independent School District. Other portions of Pearland are part of Alvin Independent School District, Houston Independent School District, and Pasadena Independent School District.
The Houston ISD portion is served by Houston Community College System, while the Pasadena ISD portion is served by San Jacinto College.
